I struggle with special days like holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. Especially on Alex’s anniversary of when he passed and his birthday. I also have a tough time with people who don’t understand my pain and try to understand. It often makes me more depressed. I tend to avoid stores especially during back to school and Christmas. Seeing families and kids shopping together makes me sad.

”Missing Alex, I struggle with special days like holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.”

Andy and I moved out to Jackson for a fresh start. I have found a job that I love most days. The staff know about Alex and give me the support I need. I cried a few times and told many stories about Alex. They have never told me to get over it or move on. So, I am blessed and thankful for my job and the people I work with.

I have found healing and strength in connecting with families who have lost a child. Who understands my pain. I have also found a love for diamond painting. I make them for families who have lost a child. Diamond painting is a form of therapy for me, and it has brought so much healing for me. Meeting families who have experienced loss and giving them the gift, I have made.

“I am BRAVE because of my faith.”
